Hemel Garden Communities Reaches a Landmark Moment
Hemel Garden Communities has marked a significant milestone following submission of the first planning application for new development. On 4 December, The Crown Estate submitted proposals for up to 4,000 homes alongside a major new employment district, located to the east of Hemel Hempstead. The application covers areas in both St Albans and Dacorum, with most of the development in St Albans. It has been submitted to both Councils and each will decide on its own part, after public consultation and a full review of the plans.
Get your bikes summer ready, with the DENS Bike Project
To celebrate Bike Week (9th–15th June 2025), Hemel Garden Communities has teamed up with the DENS Bike Project to give people the chance to win a voucher towards a bike service, repair or bike purchase from the DENS Bike Project. There will be one chance to win a £100 voucher, with five £50 and fifteen £25 vouchers given away over a five week period. It’s the perfect opportunity to get your bike into tip top shape and enjoy more cycling this summer.
Dacorum Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan
Dacorum Borough Council in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council have developed the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) which outlines proposed improvements to key walking and cycling routes over the next decade.
Thank you to all the young people who attended the Generation Dacorum Careers Fair at Shendish Manor on 2nd October 2024 and completed our survey.
We can now reveal the findings, which provide valuable insights into the industries and jobs that interest young people in Dacorum, as well as their preferred modes of commuting in the future.
Key Partners, Council Members, Stakeholders and Key Officers have joined the Hemel Garden Communities team on three Aspirational Site Visits over the course of 2023/24. These were designed to explore best practice in UK housing and neighbourhood design, to help inform and inspire, as the proposals for Hemel Garden Communities (HGC) are developed.
At Hemel Garden Communities, we are passionate about promoting active travel. We had the opportunity to speak with Cllr Adrian England, The Leader of Dacorum Borough Council, to understand why cycling is his preferred way of commuting and travelling around the town.
